We are a group of friendly, sports minded people, who love to come alongside athletes. We aim to support them in the various pressures they face and to think through the role of faith and the impact that it can have on them as a whole. We love to tackle topics like where we base our identity and worth or how to deal hardships and injuries. Through the integration of faith, life, and sport we believe each person can experience a victory beyond competition.
You will find our staff in various sporting places across NZ but most commonly in a local cafe, on the university campus or near a sports facility. We spend a lot of our time in conversation with athletes, helping them unpack the bigger things in life and how that impacts them now. Over a coffee or hot chocolate time is spent reflecting and looking to God’s word for guidance and help. You will also find us helping serve at a local university sporting event, running a sports team bible study, helping at a high intensity sports camp or even at a major games event like the World Uni Games or Pacific games. Where there are athletes, we want to help.
TIMO AND FRANCES TAGALOA
They started AIA in NZ back in 1993. Here Timo explains why.
“When I was playing American Football at Utah State University in the late 1980s, it was my exposure to Athletes in Action through an Ultimate Training Camp that changed how I looked at sports and also my faith. I could see how integrating my faith with my sport was something that I could use both on and off the field in everyday life.
Dedicated to developing the total athlete.
